I re-discovered and fell in love with Davy Jones again when I saw that he was the voice behind our favorite Sandra Boynton song, I Want to be Your Personal Penguin.
I’ve always thought that one would be lucky in life to meet someone that makes you want to sing this song to them. We should all be so lucky to have our own personal penguins.
RIP Davy Jones.
I didn’t know this song, but I remember being in the 2nd grade and HAVING this humongo crush on Davey Jones.
So handsome, so spritely, so nice.

I tried to think back when I was in second grade and whether I had a crush on any movie stars or singers back then. It’s all a blur. I’ve forgot everything! (Of course, after reading your post, I did NOT panic!)
This was wonderful! I didn’t know he did this song! I’ve always loved Davy’s voice! I was shocked and crushed when I saw on Twitter that he died! I immediately thought of “Shades of Gray” and had to listen to it! My childhood has just died a bit more. I’ve been in love with him since I was 5. And I’ve had a thing for the Brits ever since! I will miss you Davy!!

Really? I did not know. I love Davy Jones. This makes me sad. As a kid, watching The Monkees made me forget that the world wasn’t always wonderful and full of opportunities to sing.

*whimper*
This really didn’t hit me full force until last night. I remember watching The Monkees while sitting on a blue shag carpet and eating apple slices.
Bye Davy:(
RIP, Davy.

The perfect way to start my day. Sigh.

Sigh… I miss reading those books with two little ones curled up on my lap in their footy pajama’s.
Farewell Davy
